Fell in Love in the Fall

Christmas 2015
In the light of the new engagement, I decided to tell the story of me & Aidan!

Our first encounter was in the fall of 2013. Through mutual friends, we ended up at the same Sweet Sixteen and maybe uttered three words to each other, unaware that this would be the same person we’d end up spending the rest of our lives with.

Flash forward to the fall of 2014, we meet again! This time at a church event. This time, like the time before, nothing came out of it and we simply moved on with our lives.

Finally in the spring of 2015 we meet again, but this time actually stuck! After seeing Aidan in church multiple times, I began to form a slight crush on him (from a far of course), so when he introduced himself this time, I knew I wouldn’t forget him. From there the fun began. We started hanging out, flirting, and annoying each other as much as humanly possible. The cat and mouse was fun, but I was happy when it stopped.

1 Year Anniversary
In fall, we started going on dates and hanging out more, and suddenly small crushes turned into real feelings. On November 25th, 2015 Aidan and I started officially dating! I say officially because really Aidan and I had been basically dating for a few weeks prior. This began the real FALL. For both of us we were each other’s first relationship. All of our feelings were new and exciting! We shared our first kiss, our first hand to hold, our first “I love yous”. Everything was so new! The most exciting part of all though was always having someone with you. Suddenly you always have a date, you always have plans, and most importantly you always have someone to stop by the store and grab you chocolate when you’re feeling down!

One of many Giants Games
Our next adventure was long distance. During our 9th month of dating Aidan moved to Sacramento for a ministry internship, and suddenly my favorite person, and the one I spent most of my time with was gone! If you don’t already know, long distance sucks. Some days talking is impossible, sometimes you have to miss events your significant other really wanted you there for, it’s just lame. But we made it! And really in the grand scheme of things, it’s not too hard because if you really love somebody, long distance is just another adventure. It also makes all the moments you do have together very special. Distance really does make the heart grow fonder! The best thing to come out of this year really was how much we both grew individually and together. While I would never want to do it again, I also wouldn’t have changed it for the world.

In June, Aidan was back! This was probably one of the most exciting times in our relationship because spending time together had become so foreign that when we finally got to be with each other everyday again, we just couldn’t get enough! Dates became hanging out at the gym together because real life caught up and all of our free time was spent doing chores, but that was okay because we got to do them together!

This fall, Aidan purposed and that moment was probably the most special of all. Next fall, we are getting married, and will get to spend the rest of our lives together. We are excited to see what the next seasons bring.

And if you’re still wondering, that’s why I love fall!
